Youth 2000 - July 2009
Youth 2000 is an international movement of young people called to spread the Good News of the Catholic faith and share this experience with other young people. It is a spiritual initiative established to draw young people through Mary to a deep and lasting union with Jesus Christ, especially in the Eucharist, the source and “summit of the Christian life”.
We have around 40 weekly prayer groups around the country, 16 to 18 weekend retreats throughout the year, a summer festival, an annual ball and various other social events - all organised by young people, for young people.
Our motto is "Youth leading youth to the heart of the Church." We want to share our faith with other young, and lead our peers to Jesus Christ, the source of all love, joy and happiness.
A Group of local young people meet every Tuesday night in St. Anne's Church in Navan at 8pm, for a holy hour of adoration, pray the rosary, read scripture and music. And of course afterwards there is time for tea and a chance to get to know each other. Any young people between 16-35 yrs are welcome to come along and join us. please contact Marie Therese on 086 8890868 for more details or check out the Youth 2000 website. www.youth2000.ie
In May we held a retreat in Dowdstown house, About 70 young people came along to the retreat. It was truly an amazing weekend. The Heart of the weekend was the celebration of Youth Masses and Adoration of the blessed Sacrament. There was an atmosphere of joy, celebration and enthusiasm which was unique. The weekend included lots of music, prayer, talks and testimonies from other young people. It was a great opportunity to make new friends and have lots of fun.
