Diamond Jubilee Pilgrimage to Lourdes - September 2008

This year, the Diocese of Meath celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Pilgrimage to Lourdes this week. Bishop Smith and 30 priests of the Diocese accompanied over1400 pilgrims to the Marian Shrine of of Lourdes which celebrates the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of our Lady to St. Bernadette. An extraordinary grace was that this year's pilgrimage co-incided with the pastoral visit of Pope Benedict XVI to mark the Jubilee. The first Meath Diocesan Pilgrimage left from Navan in 1948. Among those who travelled in 1948 were Mary Nelson, Frank Nelson, Marion Gogarty and Nuala Murphy, all of whom were pilgrims this year also. Pictured below are our parishioners who travelled to Lourdes on the Diocesan Pilgrimage.
