Sr. Consilio Rock delivered the sermon, inspired by this year's theme "Pray without ceasing". In her sermon, Sr. Consilio spoke of the call of each individual Christian to be spiritually alive through constant prayer. Prayer is an openness to God, she said. The Christian must rely on God, trust in God and pray to God, not occasionally, but every day. The Christian who loses the practice of regular prayer, gradually loses intimacy with God. Often, this happens in a way that goes unnoticed, she said. Similarly, the Church, or Christian community that loses prayer as its cornerstone, loses its very heart, and is no longer spiritually alive. The challenge for us as individuals and as Christian communities, is to "stay awake" rather than remain spiritually asleep. Only when we are spiritually awake, only through incessant prayer, can the will of Christ "That they may all be one" ever become a reality.
